An online testimony to the wondrous works of God and how God has transformed me.
Posts from my personal journal while at Mass and notes on the readings and Homily. Posts from scripture, prophesy, and different things that come directly from God to me through me or other friends and members of different prayer groups. Songs and prayers that inspire me in my walk with Christ. Basically, anything that has inspired me so that it may inspire you on your walk with Him.

First Holy Communion Homily - May 1, 2011 -- Repost from Marriage Blog
Holy Communion Mass
St. Margaret Mary, Winter Park, FL
Homily by Fr. Richard Walsh
Today we attended First Communion Mass for my nephew Dominic. The pastor, Fr. Walsh, gave an excellent homily. I wanted to video tape it but at Fr. Walsh's request I decided to just sit and listen. Now I wish I had a better view and continued to record. His homily was so inspiring not only to the kids making their First Communion today but also to some of the adults who were there. I can only try to retell what I remember from his Homily.
I found the video above to best retell the story that Fr. Walsh used in his Homily today. Various variations of the story can also be found online. The story involves famous pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The part that touched me about his homily was not the story but how he related it to our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
In his homily, Fr. Walsh compared each of the Communicants to the little boy on stage. Each one goes up to receive Communion for the first time with very limited knowledge about faith but Jesus reaches around from the left and from the right to embrace them with his love to make them complete. The realization is that Jesus does not just do this for the little ones with little knowledge of the faith but for all of us. Some days we are weak and our faith is lacking. Jesus reaches around each one of us and makes us each complete. He reminds us that we cannot do this alone. We each only play one instrument while He plays the rest to make it sound like a symphony. Some days we are strong and he harmonizes as to complement our piece.
Jesus is the one who completes our faith. We trust that He has already begun a good work in us and with His help we can finish the task we are set out to do.

Feast of the Holy Family and Happy birthday my love -- repost from marriage blog
http://amarriagefullofhope.blogspot.com/2010/12/happy-birthday-my-love.html
Today as we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, we also celebrate my husband's birthday. I was so happy to attend Mass together with my husband not only on his birthday but also on a great feast day as well. We went to Mass at The Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg.
Readings for Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
First reading: Sirach 3: 2-6, 12-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 128: 1-2, 3, 4-5
Second Reading: Colossians 3: 12-21
Gospel: Matthew 2: 13-15, 19-23
Each reading today looked at the role of each member of the family with a lot of emphasis on the Father. We are given the qualities it takes to be a good family and good member of that family.
We both look to the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as our prime example of what it means to be a family and the importance of a family. We know that not only do we possess the things we need to be the wife, mother, daughter, sister, husband, father, brother, and son that we are meant to be but we also know that God's grace is sufficient enough to be all these things.
I ask and pray as a blessing on my darling husband on this day of his birth that he may someday be the father that the Lord intended him to be. I ask St. Joseph to intercede for him. I pray that he may have the humble heart of St. Joseph to lead and his family and the Lord commands him.
Happy birthday to my amazing and wonderful husband!

Solemnity of Christ the King -- Last Sunday of Liturgical year
November 21, 2010
The Solemnity of Christ the King
Last Sunday of the Liturgical Year
Incarnation Catholic Church
Priest: Father Mike
http://www.usccb.org/nab/112110.shtml
First reading: 2 Samuel 5:1-3 “Here we are, your bone and your flesh.”
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 122: 1-2, 3-4, 4-5 “I rejoiced when I heard them say, ‘Let us go unto the house of the Lord.’ ”
Second reading: Colossians 1: 12-22 “Give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light. For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven.”
Gospel: Luke 23:35-43 “ ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ He replied to him, ‘Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.’ “
Homily
Theme: A closer look into today’s second reading Colossians 1: 12-22
Today’s second reading talks about the affects of Christ.
In St. Paul’s letter to the Colossians, he states that ALL things are created in Him – “whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.”
We know that Christ is pervasive. There is nothing that is untouched by Him.
All will be presented before Christ at the end whether as Savior or as judge.
Christ as King
Requirements to be King:
Kingdom/Land: Christ’s Kingdom = Everything
Authority or Power over people: Christ’s power = offered freely, never forced
Inheritance: Christ’s inheritance = supernatural life
In the second reading, it states “in him were created all things in heaven and on earth.”
Worldly kings impose their power over all their people. Christ did not impose His power over us but offers it to us freely. He knocks but we have to be the ones to open the door and let Him in.
Christ gives us the ability to handle our struggles that we face in life. We can overcome anything that comes our way through Christ Jesus.
We are often deceived by the evil one and chase rainbows that are empty. All our material goods and wealth will not satisfy us.
Christ has everything that we need and more.
The second reading states, “in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell.”
Let the love and mercy of Christ the King be our comfort.

Summary from the Mission at St. Joseph Catholic Church
St. Joseph Catholic Church
Bradenton, FL
October 25-27, 2010
Mission theme: Stewardship is what I do after I say "I believe"... (A Disciple's Response)
Presenter: Fr. Joseph Creedon, Pastor of Christ the King Parish in Kingston, RI Diocese of Providence, member of the board of directors of the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSG)
Website: www.catholicstewardship.org
St. Joseph Catholic Church Mission Statement:
St. Joseph Parish is a vital Christ-centered family where members are encouraged to participate actively in the liturgical life and ministries of the Parish according to their God-given talents and treasures.
We are committed to promoting a deeper understanding of our Catholic family and to humbly serve in God's name. We invite everyone to share in this mission in the spirit of our patron, St. Joseph.
I had the great pleasure of hearing Fr. Joe speak at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for our mission for the last 3 days. I was expecting 3 days worth of talks lasting at least 3 hours total but instead Fr. Joe spoke for less than 45 minutes each night with about 15 minutes of prayer and/or review of the previous night and 30 minutes on the topic for the night. You ask what can you get out of just an hour and half of spiritual talks? I am here to tell you it was more motivation than you could possibly need to fire up a Church for a great ministry of stewardship.
Fr. Paul (the Pastor at St. Joseph's) spoke to us tonight before Fr. Joe as to why we were having a Church mission now before Advent and not during Lent. He informed us that we will be having a Church mission during Lent as well but St. Joseph's is about to undergo some changes in their ministry and this was they way to inspire the parishioners to be stewards of our faith. He wanted to try and inspire the parishioners to have the heart of a steward with a spiritual mentality. I would say that Fr. Joe was certainly a great choice to do so.
Here are the highlights from our Church mission.
Goal: To capture the hearts of TWO parishioners who then each capture the hearts of TWO more parishioners who then those FOUR capture the hearts of EIGHT more parishioners who then capture the hearts of SIXTEEN more parishioners... (Growth is exponential)
Fr. Joe spoke about the Sacraments of the Church and the necessity to study each Sacrament and return each one to their original understanding. In looking at three of of the Sacraments, he was able to relate each to the role they play in our stewardship. The three Sacraments he spoke about were Baptism (Monday), Eucharist (Tuesday), and Reconciliation (Wednesday).

Baptism
Baptism is a sacrament of rebirth. We are reborn in the waters of baptism.
At Baptism, we enter into the order of the faithful.
We need to remember what actually happened at our Baptism and not just the importance of the day/event.
All ministries of the Church are designed to serve the order of the faithful.
We are given our mission and ministry by God himself at our Baptism.
God has a specific task designed for each one of us.
We are not called to be volunteers meaning we are not called to give only when inclined and when we have time but to be stewards.
We do not have to find Jesus. Jesus finds us.

Eucharist
We must understand the signs in front of us.
We must understand the meaning of Passover and understand why Jesus is the Lamb.
In the Old Testament, the blood of the lamb saved the Israelites just as Jesus (blood of the Lamb) came to save us.
Eucharist is our thanksgiving for God's gifts to us.
At Mass and celebration of the Eucharist, we gather together as a community to give thanks.
The Liturgy should be full, active, and conscious participation.
Two reasons for lack of attendance at Mass -- 1) loss of attitude of gratitude and 2) belief that we are not worthy.
We need to develop an attitude of gratitude and realize that no one is worthy to receive Eucharist but it is given to us as a gift.
We need to remember that what we have is not by our own doing but rather a gift from God.
We did not earn it but it was given to us as a gift.

Reconciliation
Reconciliation is the most confused (and confusing) Sacrament.
It is the most misunderstood.
It has gone by different names -- Confession, Penance, and Reconciliation.
Confession and Penance are part of the sacrament while Reconciliation is the effect of the sacrament.
When our words do not match-up with our actions, then we are in need of the grace of God's healing.
We need to let go of the idea/notion that we are not worthy to receive communion during Mass.
There are at least 25 times during Mass that we are forgiven for some of our sins (venial sins)
Jesus' ministry -- "I do not care where you have been. I do not care what you have done. I love you. I forgive you. I have set you free."
It is not failing or sinning that is the issue but getting up that is important.
We need to be able to get up and say to our God "I am sorry" and hear him say, "I do not care where you have been. I do not care what you have done. I love you. I forgive you. I have set you free."
**Note that if you are not baptized Catholic or in state of MORTAL sin then you cannot receive communion as you are disconnected from the Church and our beliefs**
It is through a better understanding of each of the Sacraments that we will be able to better see our task as stewards of faith. We must remember that as persons (from the Latin root meaning to sound through) God sounds different through each one of us. We must do what we are called to do by God. It is our mission as members of the order of the faithful.
Kris and I just registered as parishioners at St. Joseph's Church and we are already active in a few of the ministries there. We are both excited to get in on the ground level of St. Joseph's Stewardship program. As young adults, we know that we will be the core of the Church in the future. We are excited as a young married couple to get our family involved in Church stewardship from the very start even before children. Ten to twenty years from now I want our entire family active and excited about being stewards of our faith and Church.
I am excited to be a member of this Parish family and I look forward to the role that our new family will play in the mission of our Church.

Love Song
Third Day -- Love Song lyrics
I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of Calvary
Chorus:
Just to be with you, I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'd give anything
I would give my life away.
I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
How may times has he broken that promise
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea
Repeat chorus
(Bridge)
I know that you don't understand
the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize
how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.
Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away.
More love than I can ever imagine. More love than I need. More love than I deserve.
I remember when I first heard this song at a Third Day concert. I heard the words. I knew what it meant but I do not think I realized what a true love song it was. It was not like your typical pop song love song. There was no romance. There were no flowers. There were no sweet nothings whispered. I did not see what kind of love song and love story this told.
Now I know that this is the BEST love song I have ever heard. This tells the love story that someone did not just for me but for EVERYONE. He walked the hill of Calvery for us. He walked upon the raging sea for us. Yet we did not see how much he loved us. Then he gave his life for us on a cross. He did and gave everything for us. There was no price that he did not pay and would not do again for us.
This truly was and is a love story.

Shine-radiate-emit
Today while I was at prayer group I had a compelling feeling I needed to share some words that came to me. But due to my own fears and my own inadequacies I did not feel strong enough to share what I had received. As I listened more and more to others share their messages, I became more and more anxious to share what I had received as everything confirmed what I had written. But as I got more anxious, I also got more hesitant. I could feel my heart pounding. I could feel my pulse racing. I wanted to share but there was something holding me back. Mike and Rita kept asking if others had more to share. I kept silent even after I heard more words encouraging to share. I kept the words and the message to myself.
After prayer group I was approached by Maria. I do not know her well. I see her every week at group. In the few short weeks that I have seen her, I have seen a change in her that is amazing. I have seen her grow and become more bold in her faith. It as somewhere I knew she was not just a few weeks before. During group Maria had shared a word that I knew was speaking directly to me. I knew that these words were meant for me to hear. But still my own fear and my own human nature would not let me share the words I had written on my paper. When she approached me, she asked me directly what was the message I had to share. I was not sure exactly sure what she was referring to but in a small I knew. I knew the words she shared were meant for me to hear so I could be more bold and stronger in my faith. I showed her the words and message I had received during group. She asked me why I did not share during group. I told her of my fears and inadequacies and she reminded me that it is not about what I think I need to share but what God wants me to share.
I know now that I need to be more bold in my faith. More bold than I already am. More bold to share the truth that I know. More bold so those who do not believe can believe. I worry that others will see me and think that I am not sincere or genuine. Others will see my youthful appearance and think that I do not have the knowledge or experience to be able to share the word of truth. But Maria reminded me that it does not matter what others think. I should not worry that others do not believe me or in my sincerity. God has given me this faith and this fire and it is up to me to share. It is up to me to get the word out there for others to hear.
I am reminded of the lessons we learned tonight. I need to let the light inside of me burn bright. I need to let His light shine brighter. I need to go forth and witness.
Lord help me to shine-radiate-emit.
The message I wanted to share:
Radiate my love.
Let my love emit from your whole being.
Shine for me.

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time -- Respect Life Sunday

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time -- Respect Life Sunday
Church of the Incarnation, Sarasota, FL
Priest: Father Mike
First reading: Habakkuk 1: 2-3, 2: 2-4 "The rash on has no integrity; but the just one, because of his faith, shall live."
Psalm 95: "If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
Second reading: 2 Timothy 1: 6-8, 13-14
Gospel: Luke 17: 5-10 "Increase your faith" "When you have done all you have been commanded say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.' "
Notes from Homily (Respect Life Sunday)
We can use the life of Christ as our example for respecting life.
Annunciation (Luke 1:31-35) This shows us the very beginning of life. From the very moment of conception, there is life within the mother's womb.
Visitation (Luke 1:41-44) This shows that even in the womb at the earliest stages of pregnancy there is life growing within the mother's womb.
Presentation at the temple (Luke 2:25-32, 36-38) Through Simeon and Anna's interactions with the infant Jesus we see a respect and dignity for the elderly and those who are advanced in years.
The Samaritan woman at the well (John 4: 1-42) It is through Christ's interaction with the woman at the well that we see a respect for all life regardless of gender but especially in the dignity of woman.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Matthew 18: 12-14) It is through this parable that we learn a respect for those who are lost and seeking to return home again including the homeless and those who have no one to pray for them.
Jesus' interaction with the lepers. It is through this that we have a respect for those who are considered outcasts in our communities.
Jesus' interaction with the poor, downtrodden, and vulnerable. It is through this interaction that we see a respect for the sick and dying.
As we follow and look at the life of Jesus, we see and learn a respect for all life in all stages, backgrounds, status, and situations in life.

A new blog
It has been so long since my last post on this blog. So much has changed in my life. Everything, of course, for His greater honor and glory. I hope to try and post more to this blog so as to continue to inspire others on their walk with Christ.
There will be 4 different types of posts.
1. From notes while at Mass and Homily.
I have been bringing a journal to Mass with me for sometime and taking notes on the readings and Homily. I keep them for myself but I think that others will benefit from what I have learned at Mass each week or when I attend daily Mass.
2. From notes while at prayer groups.
I have been attending several charismatic prayer groups and I often take notes on the prophesy or scripture that is shared. When I am truly inspired, I will post some of the prophesy or scriptures.
3. Songs or prayers that inspire me.
Sometimes a song or prayer will inspire me and I just have to share it with you and see how you can be inspired, too.
4. Anything inspired by God
If I find something that inspires me, then I will share it here so that it may also inspire you.
One of the biggest changes in the last year was that I got married on April 10, 2010. I have started a new blog called A Marriage Full of Hope about our ups and downs in our marriage and the experiences and lessons learned. Please also follow my new blog http://amarriagefullofhope.blogspot.com/ and see the journey my husband and I have ventured on together.

Holiday letter 2008
It is a little late for a holiday letter, but I had so much to say that I just did not have time to finally sit down and write it until the other day. I am still behind on mailing it out but I hope to get that sometime early this week. I also waited because so much happened in the last few weeks of 2008 that I wanted to include ALL the changes which occured right up until the very end. I am not sure if this really is a faith blog or not but I do talk a lot about my faith and where I've been and where I'd like to go. Regardless, I'd still like to share it with all who follow my blog publicly as well as anonymously.
So here it is:
Dear Family and Friends,
Hello! This was supposed to be my "2008 Holiday Letter", but now it has become "My launching into 2009 Letter" instead. With the end of the year and holiday season just passing, I got so busy with the hustle and bustle of work and everyday life that I did not get a chance to reflect on 2008 and put my thoughts on paper. So, here we are at the beginning of a new year, and I finally have a moment to look back on the highlights of 2008 and make predictions on the year to come. I cannot believe the new year is already here. It seems as if it was yesterday that 2008 began. I am very excited about the challenges that 2009 will bring,
In 2008, I set out a few lofty goals and although the year got off to a good start, I was not able to meet my main goal of finding the right relationship that might lead into a promising future. I know it seems rather superficial, but I set a pretty high goal of getting into the right long term relationship. I started off the year with a few "blind" dates but none ended up anywhere. I have made a few good friends but nothing more. 2008 as a whole was filled with many ups and downs throughout the year but all in all I think I was able to end the year on a pretty big high note.
Highlights of 2008:
January through March seemed uneventful. I do not recall much going on these first few months other than the usual post holiday celebrations. It was a hard beginning of the year with Mom and Dad in the Philippines during this time. Starting in April is when the excitement started to happen. First, I joined a young adult ministry in Altamonte Springs at Annunciation Catholic Church. At the start, I only attended dinners and participated in activities, but as time went on I got more involved. I am now on the Spiritual committee and the core team for the group. On April 20, my sister gave birth to my niece Miranda Elayne. She was born at Winter Park Hospital at 11:47am. I had every intention of being here in Orlando for her birth, but our little princess had other plans. My sister went into labor fairly early and within a couple of hours our precious angel was born. I made it to the hospital in the late afternoon a few hours after she was born. May was actually a pretty tough month. Despite being my birthday month, I did not have a great month or birthday for that matter. I suffered a bit of depression that month. It lasted a couple of months but I bounced back in late June/early July. At that time I started to get very involved in the Singles for Christ Orlando chapter. I was able to give the Transformation in Christ talk. Things started picking up. In this talk, I was able to give my testimony as to how God had healed me from the pains of the past and other traumatic experiences that I had as a child as well as an adult. Life really started to pick up from there. The next few months I continued to grow in my faith. I continued to flourish and experience even more healing of old wounds. September brought the biggest change of 2008 when I moved into a house with my friend Christine (Tin) from SFC. I enjoy being in a house but I do miss being near my sister and the kids. I am now living in west Orlando near Ocoee which is about 30 minutes from Lalie and the kids. I miss being able to see them after work, but I do try and make time for them on the weekends. In October, I was able to take a short 1 week vacation to Naples to visit family and friends. While there I attended the wedding of two of my good friends Lindsay and Jose. I had the opportunity of being an active part of their wedding day including reading the first reading. It was a great time at their wedding. I enjoyed my vacation to Naples as well. I was able to see many of the old places I used to go and finally visit Palm Cottage near the Naples Pier. I had always wanted to go and I am glad I got the chance. Palm Cottage is an old house owned by the Naples Historical Society. It is a beautiful old home filled with lots of history. I just love old houses like this. October was also the month that I started my online blog. I started an online ministry where I have posted many different views of the same testimony. I share my journey with Christ on the Internet for all to read. I have not been too active in posting there, but please do check it out and follow along my journey of faith. This was also the month I attended the Life in the Spirit (charismatic) conference. At the conference I found a whole new side of Catholicism that truly has deepened my faith. I continue to stay involved with SFC and have had the chance to minister to the youth of Youth for Christ. I did an improv comedy workshop with the kids at their youth Camp. I had so much fun with them that I decided I am going to start writing my one-woman show again with the hopes of performing it either late spring or early summer. Stay tuned for the new blog that will chronicle my writing journey in putting together this show. The last few months of 2008 were quite busy. I have been quite involved with SFC as well as other Church groups. Aside the young adult ministry and SFC, I am now a part of the charismatic renewal group at Church. I hope to get even more involved at Church as well. I am looking to be a parishioner at this new parish. I also want to try and get involved in the contemporary choir there. The last couple of months at work were quite crazy. Just after coming home from vacation I started working a lot of extra hours. I was working an average 53 hours every week for nearly 5 or 6 weeks. It finally took its toll on me and I cut back to just over 40 hours a week. I was still making a few extra dollars working OT but not as much. I was still pretty tired and beat every night after work. I also started to get involved in a social Catholic group started through a Catholic website I belong to. We started with an informal meeting for lunch in November and plan to alternate between Tampa and Orlando every month. We have a pretty good group going. The last few weeks of year have been the best weeks of 2008 and probably the reason I did not write this sooner. I wanted to be able to include the changes and happenings of the last few weeks in the letter. I have made a lot of new friends through the gatherings our small group has been having including a very good friend I have been talking to and getting to know the last few weeks. For right now we are just friends but we get along well and have great conversations. I do not know what is going to happen with that but I am starting to think that meeting that special someone might not have been the plan for 2008 but I certainly have included in my plans for 2009. 2008 was not only a great year spiritually but I am very blessed to have a good group of friends at work as well as outside of work to keep me focused and grounded. I am so lucky to have my friends Johnerick and Christine who have been my rock and support this whole year. I owe much to them and the bonds of friendship we have shared this past year.
So what is in store for 2009? Not only did 2008 bring about spiritual change but I had made some physical changes as well. I was able to lose almost 25 pounds and finally fit back into a size 6 pair of SKINNY jeans. Part of the challenge of 2009 is to keep off the weight and lose another 5 pounds. I want to start exercising more so as to stay fit and in shape. I already lost the weight so now I have to try and maintain it and stay fit. I am so happy that I have lost the weight but the sad part is all my clothes are now 4 or 5 sizes TOO big. I have to work on buying a new wardrobe. I decided that since I was buying a new wardrobe I would try a different look. I have decided to go from the loose and baggy clothes to a more professional and feminine look. I have made some changes in my wardrobe these last few weeks that I hope to be propelled into the future never to look back on the past. I am changing my wardrobe for 2 reasons 1) to replace my now extra baggy clothes into something that fits and flatters my body and how I look 2) to try to hook in that man who may someday be the one for me. I realized that I was not going to go anywhere if I did not make a change. It is going to be a major challenge but I look forward to meeting it this year. For 2009, I also want to build a stronger relationship with God. I want to get closer to Him. I want to have a deeper and more personal relationship with Him. I want to be able to evangelize and claim lives for Jesus Christ. I want to pray and read the Bible more. I hope to do this through my writing – my faith blog as well as my one-woman show. But the one area I want to work on is living my life for God so that others may know and see that in me and want it and desire it for themselves. If doing full time ministry and bearing witness would actually make ends meet and pay the bills, then I would change careers and give my hand at working doing full time mission work with SFC. One of my goals for 2009 is to plan a trip home to the Philippines in December. I will go back to my Mom’s hometown and stay with family for 2 weeks. I really hope and pray that God makes this happen as it will be over 30 years since I have last been home. A lot has changed and I want to connect with family there before it is too late.
I look forward to the many challenges of 2009. I know that through God there is NOTHING impossible. I put all my faith and trust in Him and I know that He will provide for my every need just as He has since the beginning of time.
I wish all of you a blessed new year. I wish for you joy, peace, prosperity, good health, love and happiness which comes from God and God alone.
With Lots of Love,
Eileen Mae

The best Christmas gift ever given AND received
What was the best Christmas gift that you have ever received? Was it something that you still cherish today or is it just a memory of a Christmas from long, long ago? I know as a child growing up I received some really nice Christmas gifts that I truly enjoyed. I remember a finger paint set I got once when I was 5 years old. I had so much fun with it, too. Where is it now? I don't know. It was long gone once all the paper and paint were used. It was just temporary happiness. As all the material gifts we receive at Christmas time.
This year I received the best Christmas gift ever. It wasn't something material but something very special. Something I know I will cherish the rest of my life.
It all started a few weeks before Christmas. I was on my way home from a long day at work. I had no plans for the evening but Johnerick was in my neighborhood so we decided to have a nice dinner together at Golden Corral. It started off as a pretty normal dinner. We enjoyed our buffet, conversation, and fellowship. At the end of dinner, we both had realized that we had no cash to tip our waiter. We could have easily just eaten and run without tipping the waiter. He may or may not have noticed. But we felt bad. We had nothing to give him. Not even a penny. So we told him on his next day at work we would stop by and not only tip him for that day's service but also for this evening's service. We had vowed to come back and double tip him for his service. He was not expecting us to come back. But being a woman who is true to her word and a devout Catholic I knew I couldn't just eat and not come back. So Johnerick and I made plans to return that following Friday to give Henry (our waiter) what he deserves. So enter the following Friday. Johnerick and I had every intention of returning. And we did. Both of us with cash to properly tip Henry. When we got there we immediately asked about Henry. We were hoping he was there as he said he would. We wanted to sit in his section so that we could not only tip him for Friday's service but also Wednesday. When he saw us there he was just speechless. He wasn't expecting us to return but being people who are true their word we came back. He led us to our table and we had a nice dinner. He came up to us and talked with us a few times as a good waiter should. And out of the blue I made a suggestion I didn't know how he would take it. Being a devout Catholic (and Johnerick a devout Christian) I asked if and when Henry had a free moment I wanted to pray with him. I have never made such an offer in public before but I have felt more inclined to do things like that when I am so moved by the Spirit to do so. I wasn't sure how he'd take it or if he'd even sit with us. But a little while later Henry came and sat with us. So I bowed my head and prayed. I prayed thanking God for Henry and the service he does at work for his customers. I prayed thanking God for allowing Henry to be touched by us. I prayed for blessings for him and his family. After we were done praying, Henry again was speechless. He told us that twice in the same night was he rendered speechless by us. He said never before has he had someone offer to pray for him. He said the prayer was so beautiful. He was so touched. He even told us that a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. I knew we had done a good deed. I told Henry to pass it on. To share it with others. I know that even if he didn't even if it was just for that one night Henry was a changed man. We opened his eyes to a new experience. Johnerick and I walked out of there changed forever. We knew we had made a difference in his life.
How amazing God used us at that moment to minister to Henry. How amazing that God allowed us to touch Henry on that day. This was and is the best Christmas present ever given AND received. Not only did Henry receive monetary tips but also spiritual ones. I am lucky to have had this experience.
I hope that you too can make the difference in some one's life. It can change the hearts of many.
God bless you this Christmas season and always.

The true meaning of Christmas
How sad that we forget the true meaning of Christmas. We get so bogged down with shopping and finding that right gift for that special someone that we often forget what Christmas is truly about. We forget the reason we even celebrate Christmas. Christmas has become such a secular holiday that we have already forgotten the religious reasons we celebrate Christmas. Christmas has become so much about decorations and all things secular that we forget why we REALLY celebrate Christmas? Do you know what Christmas is about? Do you remember why we REALLY celebrate Christmas? Is Christmas just about Santa Claus and getting that right gift from that special someone or for that special someone? Not at all. Christmas is about one thing and one thing only and that is the birth of our Lord Christ Jesus. I have in the past given into to all the hype and spent an excessive amount of money trying to find the right gift if not giftS for everyone in the family. And now I am reminded again this year since I had no money to really give gifts that Christmas is NOT about having the right gift under the tree but about celebrating the birth of our Lord. On this day, Christ was born. On this day, a Savior came into this world to save us from Satan's power. On this day, God became man so that we may never die but live eternally. Today at Mass I was reminded of how special today is. Not because we get gifts but because have already received the greatest gift of all and that is God's only Son Jesus Christ. What more can we want if we have Christ Jesus in our lives? What more can we ask for? Is that perfect gift going to be there in the end? Only God will be there. Let us be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas this holiday season. Let us remember that Christ came on this day to save us.
Bible reading to share: My favorite story of Christmas can be found in the Gospel of Luke. It is the story of Mary and Joseph traveling through Bethlehem when it came time for Jesus to be born. It tells how he was born in a manager. It talks about Jesus' humble beginnings in a manager because there was no room in the inn. Read it for yourself and be reminded why we celebrate this day. Luke 2: 1-14

Readings for First Sunday of Advent
First Reading: Isaiah 63: 16b-17; 19b; 64: 2-7
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 80: 2-3; 15-16; 18-19
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1: 3-9
Gospel: Mark 13: 33-37
Notes taken from Homily at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church Sunday, November 30
First Reading: We were wandering about without focus. God come down from heaven and save us. We need to have the attitude to allow God to form and shape us into something beautiful and useful. We give God permission to mold us. "We are the clay and you are the potter: We are the work of your hands"
Second Reading: This talks about how God's graces work in us the community of faith. We look forward to God's graces working in us as a community.
Gospel: Be watchful and be alert. There are diversions that take us away from God that make it hard to examine our conscience and pray our conscience and pray. Be watchful and slow down. Do less and not more to be more attentive to the works of Jesus Christ. Be a person of prayer. Be watchful, alert, and centered on the Lord.
How can we be more watchful? This is the challenge for the Advent season. Let us be more watchful as we wait for the birth of Jesus Christ.

You are my ALL IN ALL
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising up again
I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name

Isaiah 40: 28-31
Did you not know? Had you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, he created the remotest parts of the earth. He does not grow tired or weary, his understanding is beyond fathoming. He gives strength to the weary, he strengthens the powerless. Youths grow tired and weary, the young stumble and fall, but those who hope in Yahweh will regain their strength, they will sprout wings like eagles, though they run they will not grow weary, though they walk they will never tire. --Isaiah 40:28-31

Let us give thanks
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we all probably have a lot to be thankful for. I know I do. So I wanted to start off by thanking those who have made a difference in my life and who have inspired me along the way. So here is my list of people I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.
1) First and foremost, I am thankful to God Almighty. I owe my life to God. Everything I have and everything I am is because of God. Without Him, I am nothing.
2) I am thankful for family. I am thankful to my parents, my sisters, my brothers-in-law, my nieces, and my nephews. I am thankful for my grandparents. I am thankful for all my family both near and far. Mom and Dad: I thank you for all your love and support you have shown me through the years. I am thankful you raised me to be who I am. Marve Ann and Lauralee: I could not have asked for better sisters. I know we always have not gotten along all the time but I know I can count on you both to be there for me. Your love and support is much appreciated. Charles and Carl: We have had our share of disagreements. We have not always gotten along, but I know in recent times we have gotten along much better. I am thankful for all your words of advice. To the kids -- Lexy, Doc, Miranda, Chas, and Anna: You are so inspiring. You have taught me how to love. You mean the world to me. I am thankful to have you as nieces and nephews. To the Grandmas: Thank you for loving me. Thank you for inspiring me. I hope to live as long and fruitful as you both have. To family near and far: I know we do not see each other much but I am thankful for such a family. It is so nice to be a part of a big family.
3) I am thankful for JET. Christine and Johnerick you have made a difference in my life. You are MORE than just my friends. You ARE my sister and my brother. Your love and support means the world to me. Christine: I am so thankful that we have had this chance to be roommates. Your constant love and support is abounding. I am grateful to have you in my life. You have inspired me to want to be more and do more. Remember I am here for you always. Johnerick: I am so thankful that we are friends. Your friendship means a lot to me. You are a true and honest friend. I appreciate the loyalty and commitment to the friendship. I am inspired by you. You are an amazing man who will someday make someone very happy. JET is intact and strong!
4) I am thankful for the leaders of SFC -- Tina, Juve, Cahty J, Ate Chelly, and Ate Dobbie. Your faith is amazing and inspiring. You have helped me develop a stronger sense of faith and have helped me in my times of struggle. Tina: As I have said over the weekend, it may seem like we do not like each other. We may joke and tease but I know you love and care for me. I value our friendship. I appreciate all you have done for me. You are a true and amazing friend. Never lose the sense of humor. Juve: Thank you so much for listening to me when I need someone to listen. Thank you for all the words of advice. Thank you for being you and supporting me on this amazing journey. You were one of the first ones in SFC that I talked to and I am grateful. Cathy J: Your faith is amazing. I am inspired by you. I am encouraged by you. You have helped me to find and discover the meaning of true faith. I appreciate all you have done for me and SFC. Ate Chelly: You are the first one I opened up to in SFC. You are the first one to have seen and know about the changes that have happened in my life. I am inspired by your faith. You have been through much yet you never give up on your faith. You encourage me to continue on despite the many challenges we face in life. Continue to stay strong in your faith and inspire others. We miss you here and pray for the best for you and the boys. Ate Dobbie: You lead SFC with abounding faith. Your faith is to be admired. You are such an inspiration to me and everyone in SFC. Thank you for your guiding hand.
5) I am thankful to my SFC family. Everyone in SFC is so amazing. Every one's faith and commitment to God is so inspiring. I have never had a closer group of friends. To everyone I have met in SFC: Thank you for your faith and commitment to God. Thank you for your love and friendship. Let us always remember to stay accountable to one another.
6) I am thankful for my old Naples friends -- Ronald, Anne, Kris, Lindsay, and Jose. You guys are my rock. You are there for me always. Ronald and Anne: You both are true and honest friends. You have taught me how to love and not judge. You have hearts of gold. I have learned a lot from you and I hope and pray for the best for both of you. I know I can count on you whenever I really need someone. Chris and Anne: To my two oldest and dearest friends. I have known both of you for well over 20 years. Can you believe that? 20 years is a long time. I hope that we can stay close as always. Liz and Clara: To my old college girls. It has been great keeping in touch with you via FB. We have so much more catching up to do. I miss the old days! David and Taryn: I am so bad at keeping in touch. I am glad we do get the chance to talk though every once in a while when I am in Naples. I hope to hear from you again soon.
8) I am thankful for new friends -- Ellen, Deborah, Missy, Mike, Victor, Ron, Shawna, and everyone else I have met recently. I have enjoyed meeting and making new friends. New friends help keep life refreshed and renewed. I have had great times with each one of you. I look forward to more great times together.
9) I am thankful for online friends. I have had the opportunity over the last few years to meet some really nice people online who have been a joy and pleasure to talk to. I am thankful to everyone I have met on the Internet who have been supportive of me on my journey through life.
10) I am thankful for old friends that I am no longer in touch with. There are too many of these to even list, but everyone of them have touched my life and made a difference. I will NEVER be the same person since they came into my life. My life is forever changed and affected by everyone that has come into and out of my life. I am thankful that I knew them at one point and the difference they have made in my life. I am always reminded to make new friends but keep the old. Sometimes it is not possible but we are still changed by everyone we meet. I have cherished every friend I have made whether I am still friends with them or not.
Let us give thanks to all who have made a difference in our lives.

This is my Desire
Group: Hillsong
Song: This is my Desire
This is my desire, to honor You.
Lord with all my heart, I worship You.
All I have within me, I give You praise.
All that I adore, is in You,
Lord I give You my heart,
I give You my soul,
I live for You alone.
Every breath that I take,
Every moment I'm awake,
Lord have Your way in me.
Such a short song, but oh so inspiring. Every time I sing it I am brought to tears.
Lord I give you my heart and I give you my soul. I live my life for you and you alone Father God.

Thy will be done
Who am I to doubt the Lord God Almighty? When God has a plan in mind then He makes it happen. If it is His will, then it will be done. We know. We are taught in the words of the Our Father...Thy kingdom come, THY WILL BE DONE on Earth as it is in Heaven. Isn't that just the truth? I am reminded time and time again that through God our Father there is NOTHING that is impossible. If He wills for it to be done, then it will happen. There will be a way for it to happen. He will make it happen. When we are physically not able to do something for someone else, then He will provide another way through someone else. Who are we to doubt that God the Almighty would not make it happen? Every time I doubt God, He just reveals to me that if it is His will then it is going to happen. But time and time again, I doubt our Lord. Who am I to doubt our God Almighty? Should I not have already learned from the past experiences that God can make anything happen? Through Him there is NOTHING that is impossible. We place all our faith and trust in Him and He makes everything happen according to His will. We need to trust in Him always that He is the one to ultimately provide for us. We must try to live according to His will. We must live as He intends for to live. Let His will be done and not ours. It is not by our will or our way that we are here and things happen. It is only by His will and way that we are here. Who are we to doubt? Who are we to question God when things happen? Everything happens by His will and way. It may not happen how we wanted it or planned, but by how He master designed it. We will see in the end that His will and His way was the BEST way for it to happen. His way was the way that it was meant to be. Live out your life according to His will not yours. Pray that His will be done. When I pray the Our Father, I pray intently on the words "Thy will be done" It is a struggle for us. We are human and we give into our needs and wants, but we know it is not about what we want. Pray that we live our lives according to His will.
Let Thy will be done!
On a side note, Thanks be to God for putting JE in the right place at the right time for His will to be done! (which is what inspired this whole blog to begin with!)

Rest for the body
We are reminded that we need to rest our bodies. We need to relax and take it easy sometimes. We need not try to accomplish everything at one time. God gives us the rest of our lives to evangelize and spread His Good News. I am reminded of this often by friends especially now that I have been go, go, go for the last 2 months non-stop. All of this non-stop go, go, go at work and for God has finally taken its toll on me. I am now sick. It is not the flu or fever but a cold that has me worn out. I am mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. The one good thing is that I am not spiritually exhausted. I could not feel more alive in the Spirit right now. I cannot make up for the times I was away from God. He rejoiced the day I chose to come back home to Him again. I should not try so hard to make others believe. I should not make myself the center or think that it is by my own means or power that people are being called back to the Lord, but it is by His power and will that they are turning their lives back to Him. I can inspire them through my sharing and experiences but I alone cannot sway them to come to know God as I have. The conviction in their hearts comes from God and God alone. He will convict them and create a desire in their hearts to know and seek Him. I must continue and spread The Word and tell others about God but it is up to them and by the power of the Holy Spirit that they shall come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I am reminded that I cannot do this single handed in one day or a few months. It takes time. It all happens on God's time and by His master plan. So for now, I will step back and let the body rest and relax. I cannot serve the Lord if I am physically not well. My spirit is alive and well, but my body is weak and tired. What good am I to the Lord if I have no physical energy? I am reminded to take a break, step back, and relax. Let things happen in His time. He knows already all the people I will inspire. It will happen by the power of the Holy Spirit and not by my will. I am going to rest the body for now. I will come back again when I am completely healthy and physically ready to serve the Lord with my whole heart, my whole soul, and my whole mind. For now, I need rest. I find peace and comfort in the Lord that I shall overcome this cold and be well in order to continue to do His work.
Please pray for me.
Please pray for me.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?
I'll never forget the day that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was November 6, 2007. I had attended a Life in the Spirit 2 day event at Holy Family Catholic Church. It was all a part of the Life in the Spirit and Charismatic Renewal. I had a chance to hear Father William Halbing speak. I did not know much about what was going to be said, but I knew I wanted to broaden my faith. So I went to check it out. Father Halbing that day was speaking about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. While listening to him I started to get scared. He was telling of the signs of the end of times. He was talking about the Rapture as well as the Antichrist. I began to get fearful. I began to think had I already given into the ways of the Antichrist. Have I been influenced by him and being deceived and drawn to the other side? Would I be left here on Earth when Christ came again? I did not want that. I did not want any part of that. I wanted to rejoice with God in heaven. I want to be taken up to heaven when Jesus comes again. I want to go with the believers. I do not want to remain here on Earth. I want to be with my family and friends that I love and those who have gone before me. I do not want to be left alone without the love of God. I knew that night that I had to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. I knew it was through Him and Jesus alone that I was going to be able to enter the gates of heaven. I might not have known it or even thought of it as such at the time, but that is what I was doing. I was accepting Him as my Savior and guaranteeing me a spot in heaven at the end of times. I know that Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth, and The Light. No one shall come to the Father but through Him. While at the Charismatic conference a few weeks ago for the first time since accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I was able to publicly declare Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. My life is infinitely blessed having done so. I am deeper and fuller in faith because of it. I am complete with Him and through Him. I will NEVER go back to my life before I knew Christ. It seems so far back and so long ago, but it really was not that long ago. I have always had faith having grown up as a cradle Catholic, but now this faith is my own. I have chosen to live out a life devoted and faithful to God. No one told me to do it. It is a decision I made on my own. I had help with a strong foundation from my parents, but I chose this life. I chose to live a life committed to Him. I had to lose my faith for some time in order for me to find it again. I had to search out and seek Him. I found Him again and He was there waiting for me the whole time. He was calling my name just waiting for me to answer. I am glad I finally heard the sweet sound of Him calling my name. I hope and pray that He continues to call my name and I hear that sweet whisper in my ear.

Doing God's work knows no age
November 8, 2008 YFC Youth Camp
I wrote this about my experience at YFC Youth Camp. The kids there were amazing. They have such hearts for God. I am renewed in my faith through their awesome testimonies and their hearts for God. I look back and I think if only I had the heart for God when I was their age. It is amazing to see and hear them speak of God's love and how they have been changed. I hope and pray that they continue to seek the Lord and hunger for Him. This experience was a quite a unique one. I never expected an experience like this but we should never doubt or question the awesome power of God. He has His master plan and how things are meant to be. We should continue to follow Him and do His will. When you do, He will reveal His truth. He will make amazing things happen. You will see His awesome power revealed right in front of you. You will be amazed just as I am every time God uses me as His instruments. Here is my experience at YFC Youth Camp.
My book is tattered and almost destroyed but by God's awesome power it fell into the hands of two youth leaders -- Angie and Mico. I came to Youth Camp wondering if I could minister to the youth. They are almost an entire generation younger than me. How am I going to minister to the youth? How are they going to understand my experience? How am I going to understand theirs? Well, I realize now that if the Spirit is going to move you, then the Spirit is going to move you regardless of age. While at youth camp I brought my journal just in case anything should come up where I felt I had to write it down. I always try to keep it ready in case I am moved to write. During camp, they had plans to take the kids to Confession and then to Mass. So before leaving for Church I placed my journal on top of my car and without realizing it was there, I drove away. I had not even noticed it was gone until Mico had come up to me at camp after returning from Church. He had a sad and scared look on his face. He pulled me to the side and said, "Ate, we have something that belongs to you." I was confused. I asked what. He said, "We found your journal." Still confused I said, "Oh, I must have left it around camp." That is when he told me that they had found it in the road while walking to Church. That is when I realized I had left it on top of my car when I had driven to Church. He was so scared to tell me that they had read it. He said that Angie and him had found it and read it. He told me they were so touched and inspired. When they first started to read it they did not know whose story it was or if it even was real. They just kept reading. They thought to stop because they thought it might be too personal. But they were drawn to keep reading. They wanted to know how it all ended. They hungered for more. The more they read it, the more they wanted to keep reading it. They wondered if it was real or a joke or even if they were supposed to read it. They did not know whose story it was but they knew whoever story it was then that person was really filled with the Holy Spirit. When they got to the end, they realized whose story it was. Mico realized it was mine because I had told him how I found God through Father Halbing. He read it in my testimony. They realized the story was mine and the story was real. They were touched. They were moved. They were inspired. They thought I was going to be mad or angry. I was not mad. I was not angry. I was glad that God would allow me to minister to them in secret and then reveal that it was me in the end at the right time. It had been some time since I had read what I had actually written in there so while the kids were doing their pray over I had reread what I had written. It was then that I realized how deep and personal it was. I felt a little frightened and scared that they had read something so personal. I realized that they had read about my past and about my days without God. They read about my days of parties and sex. I became afraid for them to have read that and know that about me. Then I realized it was just as important for them to know that about me. It was important for them to know my journey is real and filled with human struggle. Now they knew from my experience what not to do. They may or may not have the same experiences I had, but they know that God will never leave them or forsake them. Even if they turn away from their faith, God will take them back with loving arms saying, "Welcome home my son! Welcome home my daughter!" We know that God rejoices when even one sheep who was missing returns to the flock. I had an opportunity to talk to both of them for a short while about my testimony. You could tell that they were moved and inspired. You could tell that their lives were changed. They even told me that they read it not once but five times. They just could not put it down. They even read it into the microphone so that they could give it the right emotion and feeling as it was written. They just could not put it down. I am glad they found it. I am glad they read it. I am glad that it was revealed to them whose story it was. I am glad that God showed me how I was going to minister the youth. I am reminded to never stop preaching the Good News of our Lord. No matter how old or how young, you will never know who you are going to inspire. We all are able to minister to everyone of all ages -- young or old. If the Spirit is going to inspire you, then the Spirit is going to inspire you. We cannot control how or when the Spirit is going to work.
I have also learned that I must continue to journal into a notebook or on paper. I know now that the Spirit really works through me. I even learned from Angie that my writing changes as the Spirit begins to work in me. You can see when I am no longer in control and it becomes the Spirit writing the truth through my hand and my words on the page. The writing gets harder and harder to read but as I look back on what I wrote I realize I can read every word I wrote and said. As Angie and Mico read it, the Spirit made it clear to them what was written. Angie kept saying that Mico had a hard time reading it at the very end but they wanted so bad to continue so Angie began to read. The Spirit continued to reveal to the the truth that was written in my testimony. It was important for them to have read it. God planned it. Everything happens according to His plan and His will. He is never too early or too late. He is always on time. I am glad He revealed a way for me to minister to the youth even if it was just Angie and Mico. It was to the right people at exactly the right time.
Thank you Lord for allowing me to minister and witness through my writings. Through my writings you reveal your Word. Never doubt the amazing power of God and how He is going to use us. He has a plan for all of us in everything we do. He reveals that plan in His own time. We have to be willing to surrender to God and allow Him to work through us. Help us, Lord, to remember to witness and spread the Good News to all both young and old alike. It is not us who inspires. It is the Holy Spirit.
Let us all continue to minister and evangelize to everyone no matter the age -- young OR old.
